Day 1 (April 3) - Like the Locals

When the procession as over, the street that was so crowded, a few minutes ago, was now empty. Where did all the people go? I didn't really keep track. Did they go with the procession or went back home? I don't really know.

Since that the crowd was gone, it was time for us to check out the local joints.

Most of the shops/stores were closed because of the Holy Week except this "supermarket". So we went in to see what they have. I noticed that prices here are expensive! 500 colones = $1.

We also noticed, part of the refrigerator section was closed. I thought it was broken. But when I looked closely at the label it says "CLAUSARADO" - No booze allowed during Holy Week in 27 cantons (see details of the local news).

Going isle by isle, John saw their favorite Cereal in Spanish.

Another local find was this restaurant. It was almost lunch time anyway so we checked it out.

The "Grampa" in front of us inspired us on what to order. He looked like he really was enjoying his meal! Nothing was left on his plate when he finished his food. If he can do that I can too!

 "Patiently" waiting for their order.

They can now see what we ordered!

Deep Fried Whole Fish! -YUM!

The kids had their old-time favorite - Chicken Fingers!

Even after Eric and I shared the fish. We still did not finish our meal!

The call their "Diet Coke" to "Coke Light"

This restaurant is far from where we will be staying so this may the only time we will be able to enjoy this meal. The fish was delish!
