Day 1 (April 3) - San Joaquin de Flores

After our breakfast, we wanted to see a Good Friday Procession in town. Our food server recommended to check out San Joaquin de Flores. This is where Eric's driving skills is going to be tested.

Alto Signs

Here are some of the Alto signs that we saw while he was driving. Some of the Alto signs were not visible so Eric hasn't been Alto-ing at all! Luckily, the speed limit here is not very fast.

The Cross
While we were driving around in town, we noticed homes with cross and purple fabric. This is part of the Costa Rican (tick) tradition during the Holy Week (Semana Santa).

We were following a "Turismo Van" as our guide to the procession. But he went the other way. There goes our tour guide. We just drove around to find out where the procession would be. We saw the police directing traffic to close off the street. We thought this would be a perfect place to see the procession.

We started seeing people walking up and down the street so se ended up hanging out that this corner and waited for the procession. We felt like we part of the locals.

This was our first purchase in this trip. For 500 colones ($1), the kids got an inflatable ball from this lady vendor.

Bougainvillea are all over the town. The colors are so rich and they are pretty.
